Computer died, can't reinstall XP

The computer I installed XP Home edition on just died;
disk drive is ruined, no solution according to 2 different
pros. Of course, I'm not permitted to reinstall onto new
machine. What do I do? Please advise or tell me which
discussion group I should be posting to

Greetings --

Whom did you consult, golf "pros?" Why can't you simply replace
the hard drive and reinstall the OS?

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
