Computer Crashing + Not Booting up sometimes

Hi,

Can someone please check this log and tell me if its ok and clean. I have run Hijack this becuae I have been having problems with my computer crashing for no reason whats so ever. And it not booting sometimes either, getting error saying disk boot faulire check disk and please insert a boot disk.

So I was hoping for some advise on both the above.

A disk boot failure usually means your hard drive has a problem, highly unlikely to be attributed to any nasties ... although you do have a couple of infections.

Go get the diagnostic tools for your hard drive from the relevant manufacturer of your HD, and check the HD out.


In the meantime, I would suggest you get HJT to "FIX" the following ...

Now, cleanup System Restore:

Go to Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools and click System Restore.

Choose the radio button marked Create a Restore Point on the first screen then click Next.

Give the Restore Point a name then click Create.

The new restore point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.

Next, go to Start / Run and type: Cleanmgr

Click OK.

wait, may take some time


Click the More Options Tab.

Click Clean Up in the System Restore section to remove all previous restore points except the newly created one.

Thanks for the reply.

I have not carried out the steps that you gave me yet because it some elses computer and I don't have access to it for a few days now but when I was waiting for you to let me know if the log was ok I ran a scan at Trend Micro and that found 3 adware infections that it removed and it seems to be working ok. I am still going to check and run hijackthis again just to be on the safe side and carry out your steps as well, and then I will let you know the out come of this.
