Hoping someone can help. Back just prior to the hurricanes in FL, I lost
power to my computer and ended up in DOS. I have yet to get computer fixed
but now must get computer back.

I have just downloaded six disks from the microsoft website that should
establish XP back to the system, with the use of the six booting disks and
the Windows XP CD. I will be trying this tonight. Does anyone know if
computer programs still need re-installing afterwards? Do I need to call the
DSL internet provider to come back out to reinstall the connection (never
cancelled it)?

How on earth did an XP PC end up in DOS?

First, try a repair installation. This will hopefully bring your system back
up, with all programs intact. If you need to resort to a full reinstall you
must expect to also reinstall your programs.

You could try hitting F8 a few times after the first beeps ( when the
ketboard lights flash), then selecting Last Known Good Configuration.
