Computer continues to restart with out stopping- it this a virus?

I rebooted the computer the other day and now when I try
and turn it on it continues to go through detecting IDE
devices and passes, then when the XP logo appears the
blue bar runs through the sroll window and then stops
like windows is about to start. Then it starts to reboot
instead of starting windows. Is this a virus? Please help.
 
Have you installed the blaster patch or latest virus update from your virus
company? If so then it could be hardware but I would check out the AV
update first.
