I was wonderin how i could access my computer at home from a computer say
down the street or from another home. And is there a program that i need to

If you're home computer is running XP Professional then you can
access it using the Remote Desktop feature. Here are a couple

If you're home computer is running XP Home Edition then you
might want to look into one of the various VNC programs. Here's
one I've had success using:

UltraVNC
http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net/

Ultr@VNC - Installation, and Settings
http://www.ezlan.net/vnc.html

Keep in mind that both of these options get a lot more
complicated if the machines are behind a router and/or
firewall.
