compression files

i am attempting to download some application files that have .rar
compression format and i am not familiar wtih how to extract these files. i
do have winzip and am somewhat familiar with extracting these files. is there
any way to convert the .rar files to .zip so that i can work with them?

I will suggest you to use WinRar. You can download a trial version from the
following link. Free to try for 40 Days. Features are similar to Winzip like
right-click Extract Files etc.

Yes, Winrar is lot better. For me, it is the best archive program in World
