Compression Client Pack

I've suddenly discovered Microsoft Compression Client Pack 1.0 for Windows
XP in my Add/Remove Programs. I don't know what it is or how it got there,
but if I click on the support link it redirects me to this page:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms123402.aspx and says "Content not
found"! Can anyone enlighten me on what it is, where it came from and what
it does?

Thanks

A little, thought not much more, information on it can be found at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927374. Looks like it's part of new
patching technology from Microsoft.

As it talks about updating Vista, I wonder whether it's something to do
with the Vista Upgrade Advisor?

That's one possibility. Searching seems to also indicate it may have been
included with some beta versions of WMP11.

It looks as if it's installed when you update to the non-beta version of
WMP11 too nowadays. - I updated from WMP10 last evening and see that the
Compression Pack has appeared in Add/Remove Programs with a 'last used'
date of yesterday.

Thanks for confirming. I had found some data that seemed to indicate that
but nothing that could confirm so I didn't want to mention it without that
confirmation.
