Compressed (zipped) folders error

I've recently bought a new computer and upgraded to Vista. I have numerous
files backed up and encrypted with password protection. WHen I try to open
these files I get the Compressed (zipped) folders error and a message that
WIndows cannot complete the extraction - destination file could not be
created. Also extraction error 0x80004005: unspecified error appears. How
can I open these files?

Had the same issue.
Found a resolution for it for use.
Looked in the users C:\Temp and found that if a user has extracted 99 files from a zip folder it will not extract a 100th. User simply gets an error.
Removed all files like the following Temp99_Compressed files.zip from the users C:\Temp folder and they were able to extract the information from a zipped folder.

This was in Vista x86, assume it may be the same in other versions.

Hope this helps
Joseph

Try this if you have 7-zip. If it is password lock..right click on the zip file --> 7-zip --> Extract files --> .. a window will popup for you to enter password.
good luck.
