compressed files

A user is receiving emails with zip attachments. This user is on Windows XP
Professional with Office XP Standard. When he opens certain zip attachments
they appear to be empty. However when he forwards the same email onto me, I
am also on Windows XP professional and Office XP, I can see there is a pdf
file in the zip attachment. We have tried saving to disk and then opening,
but still nothing is there.

I have downloaded and installed Enzip onto his computer, and he is able to
see the files within the zip attachments, but we would like to be able to
solve the problem using the zip program that comes with XP.

Thanks for your help in this matter. These zip files are coming in email
(outlook 2002) and opening the zips up, shows a blank page. I can save these
files to the hard drive, and have no problem locating the zip file, but yet
again opening it up, it's blank, like there's nothing in it. There is also
no error message either. If opened with Enzip, it shows the files just fine.

I don't know what to tell you. I have disabled XP's built-in ZIP support.
I use WinZip.

Try this...

Start | Run | Type or paste:

regsvr32 cabview.dll

Click OK.

Start | Run | Type or paste:

regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

Click OK.

Reboot and see what happens.

I personally recommend WinZip.

I am getting the exact same error; any other help on this topic? This is
what I have noticed:

If there is any 'special' character int he Zip file name (Comma or a colon)
then the zipped file appears to be blank when opened (even when I zip the
file). Remove the comma from the file name, all is well;

Is there anything further on this problem? I have a process in which java
classes zip an attachment and then mail the document with the newly zipped
attachment. The attachment can be opened in all other zip programs with the
exception of Compressed (zipped) folders. HELP.
