compress old files?

Hi There,
The compress old file option has been deleted out of m
registry and is no longer in my disk clean up. Will not list th
reason. I just want to know is there a way to get this option bac
without doing a full system recovery and cannot do a system restor
because the procedure was done to long ago. I've seen downloads on th
internet but i am not sure i can trust them.
