I have win-xp pro. I am a novice when it come to
computers. I want to erase a used hard drive so that it
is blank. I do not want a file system, volumne, drive
letter or anything on it. How do I do this?

You can format and even use FDISK to remove the
partitions; however, even after all that experts could
recover much of the data that was on the disk. If you
have sensitive information on that disk that your want
obliterated, you need to run a program (there are several
out there) that overwrite the disk with several passes of
0's and 1's. This can take hours for large disks.
