Complete freeze after dialing

Sometimes my computer completely freezes after dialing to the internet.
Mouse does not respond, keyboard does not respond (not even num lock)... Only
way to get back to work is to restart the PC using the reboot button (or off
button).

Does anybody have solution?

(I have a 3 year old Intel P4 1.7GHz and XP home edition)

You also want to get some virus and spam monitoring software .. you may have
a culprit trying to monitor your RAS connections for passwords..

I already run virus and firewall software (from F-Secure).

And this error only occures sometimes, but often enough to make me curse
PCs, Microsoft and all things on my hard drive.
