Compatibility

Hi - I'm debating on whether to upgrade to Vista or not and whether to get a
new machine with Vista on it. My major concern is whether the programs and
games that I currently own will be compatibility with this new operating
system. I checked Wickipedia and looked under Vista compatibility and didn't
have any luck. Is there some easy way to tell before making a change which
of my games and programs will work if I decide to switch (instead of
contacting each manufacturer)? I am currently running XP home and several of
the games that I have were originally designed for earlier operating systems.
Is there a utility that can be downloaded to check this? Thanks!

Hi,

You can run the Upgrade Advisor, but nothing's going to be perfect for you:

I know you didn't want to have to consult with each vendor, but that is
truely the best source of information for each of your programs. There is no
pat list that says yes or no to each. On the plus side, most software that
runs in XP will run in Vista. The exception to that is with programs that
use device drivers, these need to be Vista compatible.
