Compatibility mode error

Hi all - here's the nagging problem I'm having: "Program Compatibility
Assistant" pops up EVERY time I exit PPT 2007, with the messages:

"This program requires a missing Windows component.

"Check for a solution on the Microsoft website. If a solution is available,
there will be steps you can follow to fix the problem.

"Program: Microsoft Office PowerPoint
Publisher: Microsoft Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office 12\POWERPNT.EXE

under "See details" it says:
"This program requires flash.ocx, which is no longer included in this
version of Windows."

I am running Vista for Business 64.

The given solution tells me to "Download the latest version of Adobe Flash
Player", BUT, I already have the latest Flash version installed (10.0.22.87).
And it should be noted that the animations in my PPT file work fine, even
though I get the error message every time I exit.

I have tried uninstalling and installing other versions of flash, but none
seem to work.

Hints I have seen about similar problems suggest copying and renaming the
existing flash file, ie "flash10b.ocx", to simply "flash.ocx" ..... BUT,
when I do a search (advanced search including hidden and system files, etc.),
I don't find ANY version of "flash*.ocx" on my system, even after
re-installing flash 10, and seeing that it works! What's up with that....?

Shockwave Flash Object shows up under Manage Add-Ons in IE, and the file
shown is "flash10b.ocx," but as I said, that file doesn't seem to really
exist anywhere on my hard drive ...?

any advice ...?

i have got the new inter net explorer 8 beta an i dont know how to get the
active x workin but it says something insted of active like ADD ONS please
help me i cant install any thing and if the add ons has anything to do wit
activ x let me know how to use

hi Steve -

one of the first things I do when setting up a new Windows system is turn
off that stupid default, so yes, all my extensions are showing, I've done the
"advanced" search to include system and hidden files, etc. I have no
"flash*.ocx" on my system as far as I can tell. Any yet, my Adobe flash
application works fine, but I still get that error from PPT everytime I exit
a file.
