Compatibility issue

I have XP and a Sony Mavica camera. Prior to getting
this computer, I was able to take the cd from the Mavica
WITHOUT finalizing the cd and pop it into my cdrw drive
to view the pictures. I could then put it back into the
camera and take more pictures. I can still do this with
my laptop which is 1 1/2 years old and has XP.

I have tried 3 different new computers and none of them
will recognize the cd. They treat it like a blank cd. I
tried it on Windows 98 yesterday and it worked fine. I
am thinking that it is either a setting or a
compatibility issue.

PLEASE HELP - It is making me crazy! Thanks so much.

You probably need to install a UDF reader.
Make a new folder on your C drive.
Name it UDF reader
Go to this site and download the UDF reader file in this UDF reader folder.
http://download.com.com/3000-2100-9497911.html
Once downloaded, open the folder and double click on the file to install it.
Reboot your computer.
You should now be able to read your old CDs.
A good idea once you can read the files from your old CD is to copy the
files from your old CDs back on your hard drive.
Then copy the files to a new CD using XP. You will now have new CDs readable
on any XP machines.
