If I have two large folders, how can I compare their subfolders and files
to see if they are the same? I don't want to spend hours doing it manually.

(The DOS Comp command doesn't help here.)

Thanks.

By compare do you mean the number of folders and files inside and the size
of the larger folders? If so then just right click on each folder and go to
properties.

I was hoping there would be a Windows command that, in one step, would
compare all the files in two folders, including many subfolders. I would
then get a list of the names and paths of files and folders that are
different or missing.

I know there's third-party freeware software that will do this.

Thanks.

That gives me only the total number of files in each folder, but not the
names of the files that are missing.
