compare side by side

I want to compare side by side, but my screen keeps comparing two documents
one on top of the other instead of next to each other. I have done it before
and don't know why it has changed.

If you have Word 2003, select Window > Compare side by side with...

Although it mentions Word 2000, the same macro also works in Word
2002.
