Compaq Presario Question

For a small price I might add!!...
I aquirred this Laptop, Presario 1235(UBL PRO)
Anyway, It had NO Operating System!
I added Windows XP HOME, added AOL 9.0, but..
I have NO NIC...or MODEM, so it says, or detected...
What now? Im not that computer savy, so please
guide me! Hoping it all to be a 'small price' again, to get
to where I need to go with this Laptop.
Is Windows XP compatible too? Or does it require an older
Operating System

Thanks....
Jane

What did you just ask? heh

Looking here:

I don't see that Compaq/HP ever decided to support this particular laptop
past Windows ME. No drivers seem to be available for it beyond that. You
could try the Windows 9x drivers - but they are unlikely to work. You may
alkso be able to find the "Lucent Modem" drivers elsewhere - on a drivers
website.

If you really want to use that laptop - and if it has a working PCMCIA
slot - you might be better off getting a PCMCIA modem/network card. Just go
to a computer hardware store (not a best buy/circuit city/etc - but a
computer specific hardware store..) and show them what you got.
