Does anyone know if the Compaq Evo D500 has USB 1 Or USB 2 ?
I had assumed it was new enough to be USB 2, but I'm not sure, because
I got a Mad dog Multi media Hard drive case to run my old HD as a
slave, but when I turn it on, it says something like "this drive could
run faster with a high speed USB"
Then it says to click here,
And it says on top "Hi Speed USB device attached to a non-HI SPEED
HUB"
then it tells me there are no high speed USB host controllers
installed on this computer.
Thanks, Tony

Look in the Device Manager. Does the USB section include the word
"Enhanced"?

I doubt the system has USB 2.0, just because of its age, but maybe
drivers are available, or a BIOS firmware upgrade.

Thanks Joe, No It does not say "Enhanced" anywhere in the USB section.
You mean, I take it, I might be able to get drivers to make the USB in
there now USB 2?
If not, what do I do?
Can I get a PCI card that will make it USB 2?

Yes, the PCI card should definitely work. It's possible an upgrade to
the motherboard drivers, a BIOS update, or updated USB drivers could get
you 2.0 functions.. but it's just a thought, and it's possible that it's
strictly a hardware function and there's no hope to get 2.0 out of it.

Ok thanks Again, I'll look into the PCI card.
