Hey, our company is going thru a name change and our
existing single domain name no longer fits. In windows
2000 native, (not mixed) is there a way to change the
domain name or add an alias. Or is it necessary to
create a new domain controller and move objects.

Hello, if you want to change the FQDN AD domain name, I'm sorry but you have
to create a new Domain and migrate over existing users, computers, groups
etc.

You can add an alternative UPN suffixname.
1.. Open Active Directory Domains and Trusts.
2.. In the console tree, right-click Active Directory Domains and Trusts,
and then click Properties.
3.. On the UPN Suffixes tab, type an alternative UPN suffix for the forest

That works, but you goanna upgrade all DC´s to Windows Server 2003, and you
have to move to Windows Server 2003 functional level at domain functional as
well as forest functional. This also prevent you from have any Exchange2000
Server in the domain.
