compacting... long time

S

shank

I had a 10GB pst file. Finally got around to archiving 7.5GB of it. It was
still 10GB. So I figured it needed compacting. It's still compacting 5 hours
later and the PST is only down to 9GB. How long does it take to compact?

thanks

Note that the second URL does not apply to Outlook 2003/2007 - you can have
a very large PST in outlook 2003/2007. While a 10 GB pst is large, it
isn't necessarily slow, especially if you keep the Inbox to under about 3000
or so messages (fewer is better).
