Compacting error

When trying to compact a front-end Access 97 database >30,000 kb, we keep
getting the following error: "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not
find the object 'MSysCompactError'. Make sure the object exists and that you
spell its name and the path name correctly." What does this mean and how
would we fix this? Any ideas would be great! Thanks - JB

There is a corruption of the system tables. The easiest way to solve this is
to import all of your objects into a new empty database.
