Compacting archive.pst file

S

sonodude

I have a huge (1.2 GG) archive.pst file that I want to compact in order to
reduce its size. I tried what was recommended in 'Help' but the only
off-line file it would let me compact was the 'outlook.ost' file. I am
running Outlook 2000.

I have successfully compacted the 'mailbox.pst' file but not the
'archive.pst' file

I have looked on MS website but there is nothing there specifically
instructing on how to compact the 'archive.pst' file.

Is this even possible?

How?

Many thanks in advance.

If the archive.pst file is open in your Folder List, you should be able to
compact it the same way you compacted your mailbox.pst file. .PST files are
not considered "offline" files even if you don't actively have them open in
Outlook.
