Compact Flash Card Reader not recognized

I'm placing a new system (Dimension 9100) into service and am bringing over
several components of the old system (Dimension 8400). Both running XP Pro

One of the parts is a simple little CF adapter which was a zero-maintenance
item on the old system -- plugged it in and off it went. But the new system
can't find the driver for it. Kingston, the manufacturer, does not supply a
driver for it, stating that the driver for it is built in to the OS.

Any ideas how I can restore service to this card reader? Device Manger
identifies it as

eUSB SmartMedia / Compact Flash Adapter

Many thanks...

Rick,
Several ideas maybe you have tried them already.
1. See if the Device is in the HCL (Hardware Compatibility list). If it is
XP should have the Driver. Some Drivers can be used with more than one
Device. Even Devices from other companies will sometimes use the same
driver. But XP should have picked up on that. So I am not absolutely
positive.

2. If that doesn't help try and go to www.driverguide.com. I've found
drivers here for devices that have absolutely no customer support.

3. You said you looked in Device manager. Double click the device and
check out it's status (again you probably already did this) then go to the
Driver tab and see if maybe you can roll back to a previous driver.

Hope this helps

Sometime for the flash drives it is actually installed but the computer has
trouble finding a drive that is available to use. Try opposite clicking on
my computer and selecting manage then go to devce management see if there is
a drive showinf that could be your flash drive and opposite click on it
select change drive letter and change it to a drive letter that is available
such as {y}.

Do you have the correct motherbaord drivers installed? These usually help
with the USB drivers.

Also, are you connecting the reader as an "administrator" type account?
