I've got an Epson Lx-300 and althought in the parameters page (Holding
FONT and switching on the printer) it's very fast, bi-directional and
writes in draft mode, when I try to print a word document it's very
slow, uni-directional and writes compressed letters, it passes 3 times
to write only one line.
I need to know what do I have to do to use it with word writing fast
and bidirectional and draft mode
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Windpows if you just want to print plain text fast, you can make a
printer object using the "Generic/Text only" Windows driver.

But I never found an easy way to print on a dot matrix from a Windows
app using the built in printer fonts. No matter what setting or fonts
you select, Windows always used its own fonts and printed graphically,
about 4 times slower than using built-in fonts, whihc is what you
describe.

DOS apps however can do this, they have their own drivers. I had a
200+ page document I needed to print on a dot matrix; I saved the file
as "Word for DOS" format, opened in in Word 6 DOS, selected the
printer, then selected all the text, converted it to a printer font,
and away it went. This preserved most of the formatting (italics, bold
etc). Simialr process with any DOS app, like WordPerfecrt, WordStar,
etc.
