Comp. Keeps Shutting Down !

Hi all,

I've been having trouble the last couple of days with my computer (P4 2GHZ ,
512 MB on Xp Pro Service pack 1) shutting down and restarting by itself.

I have blasterworm patch etc.latest security updates installed (appart from
sp2 which I won't try yet...)

When it restarts I get the error :

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini082404-05.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\kevin\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml

Has this any significance ? If so any ideas would be appreciated.

I looked in the bios and the CPU temps around 50 deg. and case temp is 32. I
haven't added any hardware lately so don't think it's that.

Thanks anyone !

Try this:

Right-click My Computer
Select Properties
Select the Advanced tab
Select Settings under Startup and Recovery
Remove the checkmark from Automatic Restart, under System Failure
Click OK
