Commercial DVDs won't play after XP re-install

Due to a severe virus attack, I formatted my drive and re-installed
WinXP MC from the Dell CD's that came with my Dimension 8400. My 2 DVD
drives, which were working perfectly before the install, will not play
commercial DVD's now. Home-made DVD's play fine, and data and music
disks play as well. I have tried 6 different players (ATI which came
with my video card and worked before; Media Center, Inter-actual,
PowerDVD, RealDVD and Windows Media Player), all open up, but I get a
black screen shortly afterward. They don't seem to freeze (as I don't
get the "Not Responding" message in Task Manager). They just seem to be
stuck in a loop of sorts. I have checked each drive's Region Code
setting in their Properties, and they are both marked as being set to
Region 1 with 4 changes left. Occasionally, I can get as far as the FBI
warning page, but that's about as far as I can get.
