Hello
I use ntbackup to backup files in an tempory directory.
these backup files are burned to CD with an external program.
In ntbackup the catalog for sure still points to the temporary directory.
Is there any way to tell ntbackup (or the library?) the new location of
the backup file (by commandline script)?

Thank you very much for your help!!

You have a couple of options:
- Run ntbackup.exe /? to see all available switches
- Schedule a backup job exactly the way you want it, using
the backup wizzard, then open the Task Scheduler and
examine the command line generated by the wizzard.

Hello
Sorry but I think you did not understand my posting. Its no! problem to
run ntbackup from the commandline!
I do that successfully. But theres no switch in ntbackup to change the
location of the file once it is backuped.
and to tell ntbackup (for restoring!) the new location of the file

You are correct: I don't really understand your problem.
Perhaps you could try and explain it with an example.

There is nothing wrong with your English - it's just that the words got
a bit in the way.

You're currently backing up data to a .bkf file located in some temp
directory. You then burn that .bkf file to a DVD, all under batch file
control. You would now like a command (rather than a GUI) to
update the ntbackup catalog so that it reflects the file's new
location on the DVD.

Unfortunately I know of no such command. On the other hand you
might want to walk around the problem instead of solving it. Here
is what I would do:
- Use ntbackup.exe for the SystemState only.
- Burn the resulting file to DVD.
- Use xcopy.exe (or your burner commands) do back up your data,
either to a temp folder or directly to your DVD.

This would give you the same functionality as you have a moment
but far superior accessibility to your backed up files and folders.
It would also be faster if you could copy your data files directly to
DVD instead of making the detour via the temp folder.
