Command Line Argument Not Valid -Outlook 2003

I am trying to scan a document as an e-mail attachment in Outlook 2003. I
keep getting a message from outlook: The command line argument is not valid.
Verify the switch you are using. Anyone know how to fix this?

Outlook does not provide whatever "scan" operation you mention. Are
you using OCR software to scan a graphic image to extract text? Are
you scanning with an anti-virus program? WHAT are you using to do the
"scan"? You don't scan attachment in Outlook. You open them or you
save them to disk.

Basically, it's Brother's problem to fix. Supposedly they are working on a
patch.

I am using my Brother 3-in-1 to scan a document as an attachment to an e-mail
in Outlook. It has always worked just fine until recently and I get the
error message from Outlook that I indicated in my original question.

Thank you. Please let me know if you see anything else on it. I have spent
several hours between Brother, Dell, and Microsoft trying to get this
resolved! Brother said it was not their problem. It's so frustrating. Do
you know how to back out the SP3?

So you are doing an OCR scan or just a print function? The Brother
3-in-1 is a scanner and a printer. Does the e-mail itself print okay?
Can you save the attachment to a file and open it from the hard drive?
Why would you "scan" an attachment if only to save it or to print it?
Is it a graphic image from which you are trying to extract text? Does
the Brother OCR software work okay when you save the attachment to a
file and then scan it?

Presumably the Brother software installed a plug-in to Outlook. Do
you see it listed in the list of COM plug-ins or add-ons in Outlook?
If not, look under the Help menu to see a list of disabled items.
Have you tried uninstalling the plug-in or all Brother software and
reinstalling it?

Here's what I'd suggest. Call Brother back, reopen the ticket and tell them
that Microsoft needs to know *EXACTLY* what they are doing. Also ask to be
escalated as you have heard other people having this issue and one of them
said that Brother is, in fact, working on a fix.

As for backing out SP3, unless it's in Add/Remove Programs, nope.
