Command line and C:\ prompt

Trying to get the C:\ prompt, but all I can get is:
C:\documents and settings\username>
I can get the D: prompt easily.

Making matters worse, I mistakenly cut and pasted the line below,
thinking it would enable permissions:
To remove permissions, type
cacls ":\System Volume Information" /E /R
at the command prompt to remove all permissions for the user.

Did this create a problem, and how does one get the C:\ prompt?

Ain't no "C" prompt. The XP equivalent is CMD. However, if you aren't
knowledgeable, it would be best to leave it alone.

Okay - so you open a CMD window.. The in that window you type:

CD \

And press ENTER..

Another option would be to install the Command Prompt Here Powertoy for
Windows XP and then you can right-click in explorer and choose where you
want open a Command Prompt.

Thanks! Time to check out the Power Toys.

Thank you, Rock.

What I do is make a shortcut to cmd.exe and put C:\ in the Start in: field.
