I just set up a comcast.net email account but everytime I try to send mail I
get the following error message: "The host 'smtp.comcast.net' could not be
found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'Whats going on?', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server:
'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D"

How do I resolve this?

My SMTP port for smtp.comcast.net is 25. I'm in eastern Mass., if that
makes a difference.

1. Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

2. These instructions seem to say your should use port 465

I think I forgot the link:

Your settings look fine to me.
Are you sure you were connected to the Internet?
It could be a temporary DNS failure, in which case you can try
substituting 204.127.225.17 for smtp.comcast.net.
