combo box scrolling

I've got a combo box and when I tab into the field and type in one of the
items in the list it pulls it up fine but what I'd like to happen is that
when I start entering the name of the field, it pulls up the word in the list
as I'm typing and then I can use the arrow key to start arrowing down to the
one I want.

Sound like you want the Auto Expand property set to Yes.

The Auto Expand is set to yes. The way the combo box is set up works fine
but I'm just wondering why I cannot start entering one of the items and as it
should it pulls up the first word as I type it. Use the US states for
example and I type in the letter M and Maine would be the first to appear in
the combo box. At that time I'd like to be able to use the arrow key on the
keyboard and pick another state that starts with M like Montana without
having to use the drop down arrow on the combo box.

I do not know but assume it is because there is nothing selected to scroll
through.
