Com ports not visible in device manager

I have a Toshiba A205-S5814 running Vista Home Premium. I am trying
to connect a USB device that relies on a com port in an RC flight
simulator. Windows sees the USB device with no problem. The flight
sim sees that a com port has been added.

The problem, is that when I go into device manager to adjust the com
port settings, I don't see the port. In fact, I don't see any ports
at all in the device manager...the entire ports section is missing in
the device manager.

How do I see the com ports?

It should be listed as a usb high speed serial converter
or something to that effect. In order for it to install, the
cable has to be plugged in. Once you get the hardware
installed, then you can adjust the settings from inside
the USB port link.

Don't need irq, or dma, just the com port number. They should
be in a drop down list.

I'll check that out. I thought I looked for that, but I couldn't find
it in the USB. The computer is at home, so I'll try tonight. The
program is telling me that it is Com 3.

Note: In XP, I had to run hidcominst.exe to get it to work. I tried
that but it didn't seem to do anything. I'll try digging deeper into
the usb
