COM Port Redirection

We would like to use TS client to access an application
located on our server. However we need to redirect the
COM1 on the server session to look to the COM1 port on
the client for input. We have tried to use the net use
command to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Redirection of COM ports is not supported on a W2K TS. You'll have to
use a 3th party add-on like Citrix, or upgrade to Windows 2003 TS.

Thanks for the information, Vera. I suspected that was
the case but needed confirmation. Citrix would be an
expensive option in this situation. I am going to look at
a product from NCD to see if that 'fits' as a solution.

Citrix (used to?) once made a product called CDS (Citrix
Device Services). It was a free piece of software that
you could use only with certain Winterms, like Wyse's.
The software gave you free CDS licenses as well as the
ability to connect COM and LPT ports from clients. It was
like a mini-MetaFrame. You might want to check this out
if it fits.
