Out of interest, did you try a Google search before asking? I got loads
of hits, quite a few of which seemed relevant. (The above seemed like
the best one, at a glance.)

This is precisely the kind of question I was referring to in a
previous post about "Too many posts - not enough responses"
in which I said (and was defended to a degree ) that many
of these posts are just "spur-of-the-moment-because-I-could-
not-figure-this-out-immediately" type questions. I understand
that this is not an issue that most of us could resolve in an
instant, but there are more than enough examples out there
to help.

My suggestion to everybody would be to locate "101 C#
Samples", from Microsoft. It's easily found on their site, and
provides an example of COM port access as well as many,
many others. Please, at least Google a little first before coming
here. I learn constantly just reading the posts and responding,
and a lot of times I spend the better part of a day before I get
so frustrated that the newsgroup(s) are my only recourse!
