In Explorer you have the three colors of blue for compressed, green for
encrypted and black for normal. It would seem that there should be a way to
set colors for files that have had the archive bit set on or off. Is there a
way to set this in the registry?

you can enable the "attibutes" column in windows explorer
that will show you this info in detail view.

To enable the column, switch to detail view and right click on the
name-size-type bar and select the columns you want.

As for color I have never seen this for other things than
what you already know.
