Color Management

My computer recently went from having a choice of 16 bit
32 bit and 256 color scheme to now only having a choice
of only 4 bit color how can I change it back. I've
already tried restoring my computer restarting in safe
mode with no success any other ideas would be
appreciated. Thanks
