colliding graphic-cards??

T

Tommy

Hello world,
I have two graphic-cards in my computer, one ATI radeon AllInWonder
based on the 7200(or 7500?) chip and one ATI Radeon 9200 card. But I
can Not use two screens and TV-Tuner at the same time. I have tried
mixing old and new drivers but no luck.
Does anybody have a suggestion?

Thanx in advance,

This probably is useless to you, but. I have been doing multiple
monitors for years and have never had much of a problem using
NVIDIA video cards, one AGP and one PCI.

Have you downloaded the hydravision software for using multiple monitors?

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my

I'm not sure what you mean about using the two screens with the tuner at
the same time.

The tuner on the all-in-wonder is on the same PCI/AGP port as the display
card it's mounted on, obviously, and that means it can't stream video into
and video out of the processor at the same time. So, to be able to 'see'
the video at the same time it's coming into the computer for, say,
recording, the all-in-wonder card feeds the video to the VGA output right
there on the card. (Which is why you can't use things like Dscaler for TV
viewing with those cards)

Now, that's for a single card but it's possible their software knows that
and doesn't provide in-out streaming to a second card. And/or goes into
some kind of 'single card' mode when TV capture is being done.

Unfortunately, the video capture chipset on the All-In-Wonder cards is not
the commonly used, 'industry standard' so to speak, chipset so ATI software
is about the only thing that will work with it. Point being it might be
worth an email to ATI support to see what they say about your two monitor
problem.

I suggest you use a non-ATI video card for the second monitor. I
recall trying to use a Radeon 7000 PCI card with the Radeon 7200
All-in-Wonder AGP, and the capture drivers just would not install
properly.

Hi,
I actually had an nVidia-TNT first but the TV-Tuner still did not
initiate when using two monitors. The ATI AIW-7200 is the AGP and the
newer ATI-9200 is PCI.

Hi,
I just tried Hydravision, again, but no change for the better.

Hi,
and thanx for the response.
I wish to use part of the main monitor for TV-tuner and the second
monitor as an extention of the desktop. The main card is the ATI
AIW-7200 (AGP).
With both cards activated the TV-Tuner does Not initiate, even with my
older nVidia (TNT?) PCI-card. If I try to extend my desktop by
initiating my second card when TV-Tuner is already ON then the doubled
desktop is OK, But the TV-window turns black but with sound.
I can't find an email-address to ATI.

If you are using Windows XP, maybe try changing the BIOS AGP/PCI
initialization to opposite of whatever it is now. I doubt that
will help, but maybe it's worth a try if you don't have any leads.

Good luck.

For what it's worth. My old TNT 2 burnt out so I just bought a
replacement FX-5200 to drive my second monitor. Strangely, it
seems that when AGP is set as primary/first in the BIOS, Windows
XP does not recognize there is a monitor connected to the FX-5200
video card. And, as far as I know, there is no way to set up a
nonexistent monitor. Searching for hardware does not help.
Fortunately, Windows XP can do some apparent low-level rearranging
so that the video card recognized as secondary in the BIOS (the
AGP card) correctly/fully functions as primary in Windows. So far,
so good.

Hi,
I use W2k and I have already tried what you suggested but no good.

Maybe it's time to pay your personal computer user dues (in other
words, upgrade Windows).

Are you able to run DirectX 9c on Windows 2000?
