My contacts folder is growing with all the collected e-mail addresses I keep
getting. Is there a way so that outlook puts them someplace else or doesn't
store them at all.

Thanks

Are you talking about your actual Contacts folder or your nickname file?
That's the auto-complete option that comes up when you start typing an email
address that you use frequently.
Only addresses you choose to add to the Contacts folder are stored there. If
you don't specifically save someone's email address but reply to it, it is
saved to a file called NK2.

Outlook does not save as contacts the addresses to which you reply unless
you've added code or an add-in to do that.

What's happening is that even if I don't reply to them, they show up with the
auto-complete. How can I keep that file from collecting all of them???

Not possible. You must resolve an address in order to instruct Outlook to
add it to the autocompletion cache and you can only resolve an address by
adding it to a recipient field and telling (or allowing) Outlook to check
it.

I am afraid someone here is mistaken...The autocomplete picks up addresses
that ARE NOT in my list of contacts, just as stated above!!!!

Most people here use a news reader rather than the web interface, and so
have NO IDEA what is "stated above".
Please quote the post you are replying to.
Thank you.
