Coilors on desktop

How do I remove the blocks of color under the fonts under the icons on the desktop
Formerly I had on my desktop only the icons and fonts without the c0lors. I want this again but don't know how to restore it. I like to use art works and images
downloaded from online museums as my desktop and those blocks of color interfere
with that.

Try Control Panel>Display>Appearance tab>Effects... button. In next dialog
box, unmark, "Show shadows under menus."
