Codes displaying to the left of each TOC entry

Codes like 01B, 02B....11B are displaying to the left of each TOC entry in
my word doc. This wasn't always the case. Is there a setting that I have
accidentally turned on? Others I send the doc to cannot see these codes on
their copies. Example: 01BTOC Entry 1......................page no
02BTOC Entry 2......................page no
 
It sounds as if numbering has been applied to the TOC styles.
