I need a codec to operate my windows media. I can't download. this. I have
been around and around with Microsoft people on this and they sent me
MGADiag.exe with i caCn't open. I get this message: "Windows cannot access
the specified device, path, or file. You mayk not have appropriate
permissions to access the item." But Microsoft sent it to me. They say my
problem is not with them, but with Dell. My warranty with Dell has expired.

Dr.,

Which codec would this be? You say it can't be downloaded - not even
here?

Free codecs

I have downloaded various things but none of them seem to work for me. What
should I download at free-codecs.com?

Give the extension of the file you are trying to run with Media
Player.................

I am no puter expert at all; I simply eschewed WMP & all the codecs &
whiny messages, & installed VLC Media Player, which can handle most
stuff w/ no problems:
