Codec for media player!

R

Ryan

Hey
I tryed to play a movie with windows media player 9 and
at the bottom it requested for a codec but there was an
error when downloading and this happens every time with
some movies. It played the sound from the movie but not
the picture. Does anyone know where i can get this codec.

Also, when i am watching a movie this happens about 1 out
of 10 times, my monitor just shuts down but the computer
is still running. It says its in dps mode or something?
Help would be great!

Thanx, Ryan

it could be encoded in divx so u would need to divx
codec. i have had this problem with MPEG2 files. for
MPEG2 u need to make sure u have dvd software installed.
if none of that works search the web for a program called
gSpot. load the file into gSpot and it will tell u which
codec u need to have to play it
