codec error tag 55

when trying to play mp3 files in Windows Media player, i cannot due to the
following error:

The audio codec identified by the format tag 55 is required to play this
file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click
Web Help.

Is there anything that i can do to solve this problem?

What other media software did you install?
Did you install EZCD Creator 5 DVD Edition on this system?
