in ie you can type "google" in the url field and by hitting cntrl-enter ie will fill in the http://www.com for you. does anyone know what service controls this? this is really stupid, i know. i've got a lot of services turned off and this is the only problem i'm having. btw, my xp pro runs in 68 mb of ram, i definately don't want to start turning on useless services just for this.

it's always the little things nobody wants to figure out.

.
you are not using enough ram ,xp likes at least 256
better with more.if you mobo doesnt support anymore than
that youre system is probably too old to run xp well.

i have 512. upon booting the kernel and startup services and programs take up around 68-70 mb. check your machine, i bet you're over 140-170. all that extra ram is put to good use as i do a lot of gaming and have paging (virtual memory) turned off.

Don't know if this will help.
I typed google in the address box | clicked GO and here is what appeared:

http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?srch=105&FORM=AS5&q=google

And I have Search from the Address Bar turned off.

I thought I had Search from the Address Bar turned off. It is now. Typing google brings up "page cannot be
displayed"

[To customize your searches, click the Search button on the toolbar, and then click the Customize button in
the Search bar. You can customize a variety of search options, or choose a default search provider]
[When you search from the Address bar, Internet Explorer can automatically display the Web page that most
likely matches what you are searching for and list other likely sites as well. Just type common names or words
in the Address bar, and then click Go.]

You have no clue what I'm talking about. You shouldn't be on this board answering peoples questions
