cm17a.ocx error message

My Webcam software has died giving the message:

"cm17a.ocx or one of its dependencies is not correctly regisered: a file is
missing or invalid"

I am not aware of making an changes to this file and i cannot find reference
to it on the MSoft help pages, but I think it is related to ActiveX.

Do I really have to reinstall XP?

Anyone any ideas what to do or where i go for help?

How about asking the manufacturer of your webcam software?

I tried that first.

They suggested uninstalling the SW downloading again then reinstalling.

Tried that with no effect. As it worked initially, they think it is
something corrupt on my computer. (I am inclined to agree with them, but it
does not help!)

The only refernces to this file seem to relate to ActiveX or X10, but i
don't know if it is the OS or an add on.
