Club Pogo

Does WD have anything to do with getting error messages such as Cannot Load
Game images in some of the games? I have updated Sun Java, turned off all
surity features and no luck. HELP!!!

I doubt it. What version of Windows?

Have you made any changes to the video drivers recently?

T

tpf_96

Windows Vista and no change on video drivers. No one can seem to help me with
Club Pogo issue. I can play some games with Sun Java and all games with
Microsoft Virtual Machine but there's no updates with Microsoft so I figured
it has to be defender since I turned off all other security but still get
Cannot load game images with Sun Java.

You can turn off Defender, but that still doesn't turn off UAC which is a
deeper underlying security measure in Vista. UAC can be turned off in
Control Panel, User Accounts as I recall--however--I have never done this
and strongly recommend not doing it except as a testing measure.

UAC raises dialog boxes when it blocks something, so if you aren't seen
those, that probably isn't it.

(parenthetically, Microsoft now has a KB article showing how to exempt some
individual applications from UAC so that these dialogs are not presented
each time you start something. This works for some apps, but not for
others, depending on the security level requirements of the application
itself.

In Defender, tools, options, scroll all the way to the bottom using the
scroll bar, uncheck "Use Windows Defender" and click Save, and assent to the
security elevation to perform the task.

Are others able to run these games on Vista?

"tpf_96" , Try this scan to see if anything shows up that might be Outdated
Click on - Start Now and then Check Box to Enable Through Inspection
Then Click Start : This will tell you of any outdated versions of Java and
Flash Players etc. Post back with any Red X's.
http://secunia.com/software_inspector/?task=load

Also the scan will be faster if you exit your AV -AS just for the scan,
should
be around 5-7 mins.

I am also running Vista and have been unable to play Tri Peaks 2. Haven't
had a problem with any other games in pogo except this one! And nobody seems
to be able to help me

Hey ron, did the scan and I had x's by java. Said i need to remove old
versions and install latest version. Will see what happens

D

darkanddusky

No x's left, still can't play. Still says game launcher has stopped
responding, checks for a solution, but no solutions are found.

d&d, (much quicker) I hope you have CCleaner to remove your reg. entries
after you remove the old versions of Java, very important.

R

Ron H

All traces of the previous versions of Java have to be removed from ADD/REMOVE
Also you can use secunia to find the path of the old files to delete and
re-boot
and then clean with CCleaner. I'm watching Nascar right now so I'm trying
to stay in touch with you But check the Java site for a removal tool and
then
install the latest version

I haven't read over the thread to see what else has been tried, but have you
tried the various compatibility options on the executables involved?

I know nothing about these games--is this something I can download and test
out myself to see what happens?

Here is clean-up information on old Java Versions supplied by Joan Archer
in announcements (ping Pat Willener) It's very important that you do a full
cleaning , for these older versions have security vulnerablities.

Is this any good to you, I've just copied it over from a forum.

Java Housekeeping
Open an Internet Explorer (only) window and go to
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Download Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4
select Windows Offline Installation > SAVE it to your desktop, do not RUN
it.
When the download is complete, close all browser windows and double-click on
the saved file to install the update. Be patient: It may take five (5)
minutes or more for the installation to complete.

Delete the downloaded installation file after completing the above procedure
and reboot if not prompted to do so.

Open Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs:
Uninstall anything that says Sun Java, Java JRE, or similar except Java TM 6
Update 4 which you just installed.
Close Add/Remove Programs.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Java <=this folder. Delete
any subfolders except the subfolder jre1.6.0_04 which was just created by
the installation above.
Do NOT delete C:\Program Files\JavaVM <=this folder, if found!

And the only other thing is maybe asking over in Vista Games :

It appears, from reading the rest of this thread, that Windows Defender is
not likely to be the cause of your issues.

These groups are for the support of users of Windows Defender. I'm afraid
that we don't know anything about club pogo.

I'd recommend researching at whatever site is involved, what support forums
they might have.

WD has nothing to do with why you have prob. playing some if not most pogo
games. I also have Vista and play at pogo alot. I have the same issues as u
along with the game windows constantly freezing on me and then all my IE
windows shutdown. I've uninstalled..reinstalled java but no change..i've
restored a majority of things back to default but no change..then someone
asked me if I used google, yea..i love google..they told me to completely
uninstall everything google that was in my pc..guess what?...I can now play
pogo games with few to no problems...go figure

Mary;

Sorry, we know nothing about Club Pogo here as this forum supports Windows
Defender. However, if you do an internet search you'll see many references
to making sure that you're running the latest version of Sun Java Runtime
Engine (JRE), that all previously installed versions are uninstalled, and
that all Sun IE browser add-ons are enabled.

IE > Tools > Manage Ad-ons > select Add-ons that have been used by Internet
Explorer > sort by column "Publisher" > Scroll to Sun Microsystems and
ensure that all add-ons are enabled including SSVHelper Class and Java
Console.

Another approach you could use is to ask at Club Pogo support itself...
