I'm running Outlook 2003. I had two PST files closed and all of a sudden
appear in Outlook. Now I'm unable to close these files. I ran
scanpst.exe to recover what I thought were corrupted PSTs and the their
names changed to "Recovered Personal Folders" with no content. Still
cannot close these PSTs. I ran "Detect and Repair" no luck. The next
time I launched there were now 4 "Recovered Personal Folders" (instead
of 2). I try to close the PST and I get "The operation failed. An object
could not be found." message. Any suggestions on what to do? I not
concerned about the content--that is backup'd.

TIA

Create a new profile and point it to your backed up .pst file.

I should add, there is no Exchange involved.
