Hi:
Every time I attempt to close web-sites by using right top corner
"X', a rectangular box popping up in the middle of the screen,

Do you want to close all the tabs?
For this, I always need to click 'Close Tab,' in order to close
web-site. It's quite annoying and time consuming over the time.

On XP, there had NO re-assuming tab to close web-site.

How to stop this? Since I know I'm closing web-site, there is
no need for this to come up.

Thanks for your help on this.

Clicking the X closes ALL open browser windows. If you only want to close
the browser window you are in click File>Close Tab.

It depends on what browser you're using. This isn't an operating system
thing (Vista), it's an application thing (your browser). Look in the
browser's Options/Preferences for tab behavior to change this.

Hi, Violet.

If you are using IE7, there should be a small "x" in the right end of the
current tab. To close just that single tab, click that "x" instead of the
big "X" in the red box. When only one tab remains, it does not have the
small "x" and the main "X" will close IE7.

As Malke said, this is an IE6 v. IE7 issue, not a WinXP v. Vista issue.
Unless you are using a different browser.

In Internet Explorer, select Tools/Internet Options. In the Tabs section,
click the Settings Button. Remove the check mark from the "Warn me when
closing multiple tabs" option.
