Cloning Boot drive

B

Billkalbo

I have vista Pro on a software raid and and mow installing a larger hardware
raid card.

What is the best software to clone my old drives onto the new ones, without
errors or errors on system files? If it's freeware, that's great.

Please bear in mind that if the solution involves rebooting to a DVD, then
it will have to load the RAID driver in order to see the source drives.

Thanks,

Programs like Casper run under Windows, but i have no idea if they deal
OK with RAID drives.

OK, here we go - I copied this from their site:
"Supports all drives including SATA, eSATA, ATA/IDE, SCSI, USB,
Firewire, and hardware RAID arrays."

They are at http://www.fssdev.com/

I have no connection with them, except that I am a slightly satisfied
user. One of my supported computers will not boot from their rescue CD
(not a concern to you, looks like), and their support has provided no
useful information - in fact, they only replied to my first e-mail, and
not to any of the questions arising from that (very incomplete) answer.

BTW, the answer involved loading drivers from a (USB) floppy during
boot, which I did, but the drivers didn't work in my case (AHCI, not
RAID), and they provided no further assistance.

What type of raid, and do you actually mean software raid or raid from your
motherboard?
Which raid card?
I use Acronis TI, there is a fully functioning trial available on their site

Check your HDD makers site, many offer free cloning SW, some of which
are based on Acronis.
